Cooking Matters: A Virtual Culinary Adventure for Everyone!
Spice up your routine with Cooking Matters, a free, virtual cooking class designed to bring families together in the kitchen! Cook alongside your little chefs or go solo as you follow step-by-step instructions from expert instructors on Zoom. With ingredients and recipes provided by Rick’s Place and The Poe Center for Health Education, you’ll learn new techniques, kitchen hacks, and money-saving grocery tips—all while creating a delicious, free meal from the comfort of your home.
Things to Know Before You Go
- Who Can Join: Everyone is welcome! Kids aged 14 and younger must have adult supervision.
- Skill Level: Recipes are beginner to moderate, making them perfect for all ages and abilities.
- When: Classes are offered one Wednesday per month at 11:00 AM and 4:00 PM. Both timeframes cook the same meal.
- Food Kit Pick-Up: Ingredients will be provided for free and must be picked up at Rick’s Place before the session.
- Supplies Needed: A list of required kitchen tools (mixing bowls, measuring cups, etc.) will be included on the registration page—make sure you’re prepared!
- Technology: Participants must be able to join a Zoom session to follow the class.

This program is free of charge and is exclusive to service members and their families. Registration opens for each session 2 weeks before that session’s start date.
You will be asked for proof of Military Affiliation at check-in for this program. Have your Military ID available or risk forfeiting your spot. If you have any questions about what qualifies as proof of affiliation, please reach out to the team at Rick’s Place.
